My views on the Iraq war
Dear all,I once gave my opinion on WMD to the UR list end 2003.
For me it didn't really matter Iraq had WMD or not. I didn't care at all. For me Saddam Hussein was a mass murder, who was responsible for genocide killing his own Iraqi people. Hundreds of thousands killed!! Look up in any search engines and you will get correct numbers.
Prior to the Iraq invasion March 2003, Germany had election and the socialist government won in October 2002 again under Gerhard Schroeder SPD party.
Schroeder used the anti-war rhetoric cleverly against America within his election platform. We all know Schroeder won.
IMO, Schroeder is just an opportunist and he used it at the right time and place. On the other side the conservative opposition party with its longstanding friendship to America, who supported Pres. G Bush.
And this is my scenario: if the conservative party had won the German election in October of 2002 under the leadership of Edmond Stoiber CDU party, things would have gone totally different referring Iraq and the dictator Hussein, I believe.
If the conservative party had won, Edmund Stoiber would have confronted the French government strongly and persuade Pres. Jacques Chirac to support the US against Saddam Hussein.
Don't under estimate the Germans and conservative government.Germans can get tough if needed. With Stoiber and Chirac they would have persuaded Putin in Russia. Putin wouldn't had any chance to go against Germany and France stand.
Then the resolution in the UN waging war against Dictator Saddam Hussein and his army would have been no problem. Hussein who was a clever evil knew the disunity among member states within the UN.
He played well tricks with the UN to the very end. It started out with the German election, and Schroeder's socialist government won. Sometime I think it is time to say good bye to the many socialist governments in Europe. Toni Blair socialist government is an exception in Europe.
